Its always snowy in Philadelphia?

Yay!  Snow pictures... ?

Interview with artist Myles Smutney of MomTried

"The Lovers"

"Growing Pains"

The amazing Myles wearing a shirt she designed herself

Myles Smutney is a born & raised Chicago artist who currently resides and works in Philadelphia.  We've asked her 5 questions and she's answered here folks!

Weatherman Doug!

You know how we put up all those funny weatherman bloopers on here right?
How about a real weatherman?  He was a nice enough fellow.  Like usual nothing we have done ends up being random, even when it was meant to be.  While facebook has been inundated with funny weatherman videos, and we have put up a whopping five, we are the first blog that we read who troubled themselves enough to get a picture of a weatherman ourselves.  Say hello to Doug Kammerer.

He says hello to all the zombie followers, then raised his eyebrows as I told him I would put this on the blog I contribute to..  I love you Philadelphia, even though you've tried to kill me thrice..

More snow pics soon!

Nope!

Wow...  I shoulda' put this up with the Dick Cheney pic huh?  I got it from here, where I rarely go but it was worth smacking up on here.  Do you think Obama fans will do the same thing?  Maybe Pres. Bush has strange fans along with no job.

Good luck Mr. President.  We zombies don't do politics, even if some of us got degrees in it ;P

The Crumbville Times: It's here folks.. Special edition after midnight!!!

The wait is over, more so we have broken it down into a series of individual posts (the first two got "leaked") that are highlighted in this color.  More simply, it says The Crumbville Times:  We put them all up as a mega-post last week which received mixed reviews.  Particularly on the Tumblr side of things as it was not easily broken down, and thus post-able easily on facebook / twitter or Tumblr much to the chagrin of our contributors.  Then this week it was delayed by two days.  Is it a failed experiment?  Not at all.

H & M Invades the Hermit Kingdom

Crumbville Times:

H&M is opening its first store in South Korea very, very soon.  The 2,600 sqm store will be located in Myeongdong (명동), opening on February 27th.  The second store will open in the autumn of 2010.  According to H&M's website, "Negotiations are currently under way for additional store contracts in the Seoul area."  The Korean language page for H&M is also up and you can look at it here.  Personally, I think its a great move for H&M.  Myeondong is a popular shopping district in Seoul.  It's sort of like a NYC Soho, with globally recognized brands.  American Apparel, Forever 21, Zara, and Uniqlo are among the mid-priced brands.  Like Soho, there are also several luxury brands.  It's a popular area 24/7 and especially among teenagers.  Myeondong is also being revitalized as a cultural hub and is popular among tourists.  Korea Times has a nice article about it here.  We hope to have our own pics soon.

Pic of the week: Dick Cheney looking insane.

I came across that at disinfo and had to throw it up...
 That man became Vice President.

He looks insane.

How to maximize the value of web meandering

Crumbville Times:

Here's a great time wasting activity, that arguably is more interesting then facebook.  We have already used Google's street views on their maps to show this or that place in 3D, and we have certainly posted links to Wikipedia / encyclopedia etc. things to educate our minions.  But what about places that google can't get street views?  That's when its time to call in the Panoramio..  Let's say you just watched Borat and wonder wtf Kazakstan is really like? Go there and find out b--ch!

Fear the Albatross!

Crumbville Times:

One day I was in the shower and Schmootzie was singing an awful song.  Listen to the "Albatross Song."  He sang it to anyone who would listen.  Actually he sang it to anyone within 10 feet of him.  He sang it out the car window.  He sang it to his parents.  He sang it to his 97 year old grandmother who has lived through 2 depressions.  I thought that with all of her wisdom she would have something to say.  She said, "I don't like it.  Please don't do that again."

Somehow, Schmootzie didn't even know what an albatross looked like.  He imagined it to be a menacing giant bird that spreads doom and evil.  It's more evil then a blue jay.  It's basically a flying death machine.

Here is an albatross picture for your viewing pleasure:

Upon some research, I discovered that Schmootzie wasn't insane.  At least, not that insane.  An albatross is often a metaphor for doom and gloom or a "wearisome burden."  The following passage is from Samuel Taylor Coleridge's poem, "The Rime of the Ancient Mariner."  Hope you enjoy...
Ah ! well a-day ! what evil looks
Had I from old and young !
Instead of the cross, the Albatross
About my neck was hung.

Congratulations New Orleans!

Crumbville Times:

Congratulations New Orleans Saints!  You've won the Super Bowl a few seasons after you had the worst luck imaginable.  Let's hope that this attention and great accomplishment can remind people that the aftermath from Katrina is still ongoing.

Read more here or here regarding New Orleans reaction to the victory.  Read here about the current neighborhood impact of the hurricane four and a half years ago (note: this is an editorial), or watch this video.

It's about time NOLA had some good luck!  I hope this speeds up recovery for a city that is still in need of many things just to get back to where it was before Katrina.

The Crumbville Times delayed!

DELAYED?

We said we'd have more this week..  We didn't lie..  We WILL say that the Crumbville Sunday Times will be pushed back to late Monday or early Tuesday due to other concerns.  That said, the "email" has been sent.  We have been quiet over the last week, not due to laziness but rather a few gigantic overhauls that we think you'll like.  We may be into fashion and culture but we aren't not talking about aesthetic changes.  Don't assume folks..  Check in tomorrow evening.  Sentences that start with "we" are kind of annoying to read in a row don't you think?

Yup..  Sunday Times coming..  Until then, obviously watch the Super Bowl ads.  The Forbes vote in one didn't work on Macs so I'm a hater, here's good ol' Hulu's version..

Solid ads so far
