H & M Invades the Hermit Kingdom

Crumbville Times:

H&M is opening its first store in South Korea very, very soon.  The 2,600 sqm store will be located in Myeongdong (명동), opening on February 27th.  The second store will open in the autumn of 2010.  According to H&M's website, "Negotiations are currently under way for additional store contracts in the Seoul area."  The Korean language page for H&M is also up and you can look at it here.  Personally, I think its a great move for H&M.  Myeondong is a popular shopping district in Seoul.  It's sort of like a NYC Soho, with globally recognized brands.  American Apparel, Forever 21, Zara, and Uniqlo are among the mid-priced brands.  Like Soho, there are also several luxury brands.  It's a popular area 24/7 and especially among teenagers.  Myeondong is also being revitalized as a cultural hub and is popular among tourists.  Korea Times has a nice article about it here.  We hope to have our own pics soon.
